Interested in editorial? Does research make you tingle? Is WordPress your friend, or would you like to friend it? Maker Media is looking for passionate interns interested in making, taking things apart and putting them back together again — making them stronger, smarter, faster, or telling stories about those who do. We’re searching for journalism/communication/content-production-focused intern candidates who would assist the editorial department in content creation and curation roles (not just photocopying and hole-punching!).

Maker Media consists of Make: Magazine, which is published six times a year in print, and Makezine.com that posts new content daily. In addition to our publishing business, we also produce Maker Faires in various locations around the world.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Research editorial content, including stories, roundups, potential projects
  • Assist editorial staff with online WordPress duties
  • Fact check articles
  • Assist with social media tasks
  • Contribute stories, projects, roundups, and other writing assignments
  • Help maintain editorial databases
  • Be an important part of the content creation process for both print and online platforms

Ideal candidates will have a background or strong interest in media, journalism, communications. Bonus points if you’re a maker and/or have an appreciation for the maker movement.
